Όταν η ανύπαντρη μητέρα της το σκάει για την Καλιφόρνια, η Lauduree μια 13χρονη παθιασμένη οικολόγος, προσκολλάται στο εξοχικό σπίτι της για ένα πείραμα δέσμευσης άνθρακα. Όμως η γιαγιά της Γκρέτα, μια νοσοκόμα που μετακομίζει με τον μακρινό φίλο της, έχει άλλα σχέδια.
